2024 WMHS LifeShare Education Scholarship -"LifeShare Blood Centers collects blood donations at 250 high schools throughout the LifeShare service territory. Over 35% of the community’s blood supply is provided by these students. West Monroe High School hosts 2 blood drives on campus each year. The program recognizes student blood donors for their commitment to the volunteer blood donor program.Scholarship Application Requirements: student has donated blood a minimum of two times, is in good standing with a minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA, will enroll in a technical college, community college, or college/university no later than the fall semester after high school graduation,will provide 2 letters of recommendation. Scholarship Award Amount: $500 Scholarship Application Deadline: this afternoon
Attention Juniors, If you wish to participate in the ring ceremony you will need to complete the Google form indicating such.  There are posters around campus with a QR code to scan and Junior English teachers have shared the Google form link in their Google Classrooms.   The deadline for signing up is today!!!! The ring ceremony will be held in the Auditorium on April 28th at 2pm.
Seniors, Graduation is quickly approaching. Please be checking our Community Scholarship Wall in Guidance and the Counselor Corner on our website to get all Scholarship applications turned in by their deadlines.
Our WMHS Senior Awards Day will be held Friday, April 26, at 8:30 AM in the auditorium. Students receiving a Community Scholarship or Award will be notified by invitation between April 22-25, however attendance is open to anyone who would like to come.

Sports News: 

Baseball took the first game of their three game series with Ruston yesterday five to three. Tyler Roark led the Rebs offensively going three for four with two doubles. Trey Hawsey and Peyton Starr each added two RBIs. Gage Carr picked up the win in relief, allowing no hits over two and a third innings.Today they will play Ruston at home freshman play at four, varsity at 6, and Saturday at they will play at Ruston. Next week they will play Germantown at home to round out their regular season.
Our Softball Team secured the number five seed for the State Playoffs!! This translates to them having a first round bye and then hosting the Winner of East Ascension and Walker. Once that game takes place, we will know who we host at home early next week. 
To any girls interested in playing soccer for the Lady Rebels next season, tryouts are April 22, 23, 24th! You will need to see Coach Barron in 2201 to sign up and receive a tryout packet. Don’t wait! Go see him as soon as possible!
Tryouts for girls powerlifting will be Thursday, April 25 at 3:45 PM in the old gym. You must have a current physical. Attire will be tennis shoes, athletic shorts, and a t-shirt, not tanks or cut off shirts. See Coach Sims in the old gym for any questions! 
Track and Field competed at Haughton, West Ouachita, and Sterlington last night. At West Ouachita, the boys took second place. Medal winners at all three meets yesterday were Mason Wright gold in the 400m Dash, Isaac Lane in the 300m Hurdles. Trez Davis won silver in both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump. Deshun Thompson took gold in the high jump all at West Ouachita. At Sterlington, Ty George took second in shot put. And at Haughton. Landon Spears took gold in the 2 mile run and the boys 4x800 took third. On the girls side, they took fourth overall at West Ouachita. Medal winners yesterday were De’siree Boyett with gold in the one mile and silver in the 2 mile. Ainstein Dunn took second place in the mile run. Beth Beebe took third in the 800m run. And Gabbie Glover took third in the 200m dash. There were two mixed gender relays last night. We took 1st in the 4x800 and fourth in the 4x400. District will be next wednesday at Ruston high
Tennis hosted Neville yesterday. The girls won three of seven matches, the boys won two of seven matches. This concludes their regular season. Regionals will be Monday and Tuesday in Ruston next week!
Golf will be at Querbys in Shreveport next Tuesday for the district championship!!

Club and Organization News:


Powder Puff Football will be Monday, April 29th. See Mrs. Nix or Mrs. Jones for any questions. Practice will be tomorrow at four on the football practice fields. Fan tickets are still available! Purchase on Gofan! 
West Monroe High School’s production of The Little Mermaid will take the stage starting April 17th and running one show a day until the 21st. Tickets are now available on gofans.
Attention Key Club.... please check your Google Classroom for the upcoming projects and to vote for end of the year activities. Deadline to vote is next Wednesday.
